New Milford

Think of New Milford, and the quintessential New England village green comes to mind. Village life today is centered on the green, much as it was 100 years ago. The town's most loved and biggest community event is the Annual Village Fair Days, held each July.

Local merchants, community organizations and special groups set up shop along the green for two days of fun. Traditional events are the Rotten Sneaker Contest, Kid's Fun Run and men's Best Leg Contest. The festivities also include antiques, crafts, fine art, and mouth-watering treats.

The beautification and rejuvenation of New Milford's downtown area, especially Bank and East Main streets, allow residents and visitors to appreciate the historic buildings and to enjoy the many stores and restaurants the town has to offer.

Bisected by the Housatonic River, New Milford, Connecticut's largest town, has come to be known as the "Gateway to the Litchfield Hills".
